The Power of Letting Go: A Story of Manifestation and Rediscovery

There was a time when I felt stuck—trapped between exhaustion and the desire to create. I was burnt out, longing to get back to my creativity, yet somehow always falling short of alignment.

No matter how much I planned or dreamed, I remained disconnected from the creative life I craved, caught in a cycle of stress and frustration.

At the time, I was working in film production, specifically in Visual Effects(VFX). Even though it was interesting, deep down, I knew it wasn’t where I was meant to be.

While the experience taught me invaluable lessons—it no longer sparked the excitement it once did.

I could feel something shifting, nudging me toward a different path.

It wasn't until 2020 that everything changed. I had what I can only describe as a spiritual awakening. The universe slapped me awake, reminding me of the importance of presence, energy, and letting go.

In my Chester home, I transformed the laundry room into a small art studio. My hair was short in those days — a little reminder of how much time has passed.

As I delved deeper into spirituality, I came across the concept of manifestation. I learned a crucial truth: when we "want" something too badly, we're actually focusing on the absence of it. We're manifesting lack, not abundance.

"When you want something, you are affirming you don't have it." — Michael A. Singer, The Untethered Soul

This idea hit me like a wave. I had been so attached to my dream of becoming a successful artist that I was inadvertently pushing it away. I was so caught up in my "wanting" that I couldn't see the beauty in where I was.

So, I made a difficult decision—I chose to release my dream.

I decided to let go of the need for it to happen on my timeline, and trust in the divine, a lesson the spiritual path teaches. It felt like a gamble. Would I ever go back? Could I keep this release up? Could I hold onto this freedom?

So, I released the pressure, and aimed to be present in the visual effects work I was doing at that moment. Stepping into the spirituality world, we are encouraged to have gratitude.

It was only when I embraced this sense of gratitude for where I was—grateful for the career I had built in VFX and the lessons I had learned—that I felt the weight lift. I realised how far I'd come, and suddenly, everything felt lighter.

That's when the shift occurred.

I began to focus on my art shop as a hobby—simply creating for the joy of creating. I took the pressure off, letting go of any attachment to results.

In 2021, I set up an Instagram page to share my journey, my process, my paintings, and my prints. With no expectations, just the love of what I was doing, within two weeks, I was contacted by a gallery.

I couldn't believe it—it felt like magic, but in reality, it was the result of releasing control and letting life flow.

As I look back now, it's clear that manifestation isn't about clinging to a dream. It's about trusting the process, letting go, and allowing your intuition or a higher power guide you. Sometimes, it's only when we stop pushing and start surrendering that the things we desire begin to find their way to us.

"Letting go gives us freedom, and freedom is the only condition for happiness." Thich Nhat Hanh

Today, I am working as a full-time artist, I have the honour of working with two galleries and showcasing my work at international art shows, just as I'm writing to you now.

So if you find yourself in a space of yearning, of wanting but not yet having, I encourage you to step back.

Take a moment to look at how far you've come.

Release the pressure, and trust that when you let go, you create the space for what you desire to come to you in its own time.

Manifestation, after all, is less about chasing and more about allowing.
